Medical Use and Dosage – mode of administration
EQUISETUM ARVENSE is used as haemostatic. It is used to treat health problems such as tuberculosis, anuria and cystitis. It is also very good as astringent.
It is used for “fluid retention” (edema), kidney and bladder stones, urinary tract infections, the inability to control urination (incontinence), and general disturbances of the kidney and bladder.
It is also used for balding; tuberculosis; jaundice; hepatitis; brittle fingernails; joint diseases; gout; osteoarthritis; weak bones (osteoporosis); frostbite; weight loss; heavy menstrual periods; and uncontrolled bleeding (hemorrhage) of the nose, lung, or stomach.
In case of anuria it can be used in herbal tea 3 times daily, and in all aforementioned health problems it can be used in tincture 2 – 4 ml daily.

Combinations & Contraindications
It is often used in combination with Hydrangea arborescens in the treatment of prostate problems.
It might create digestive disorders and allergic reactions.
It is contraindicated to be used during pregnancy without medical surveillance.
